In anticipation of the 8th annual Archmena event: Leaders in Architecture, scheduled for 11-12 April 2018 in Dubai, ArchiExpo e-Magazine is spotlighting Raya Ani, who spoke at a previous edition of the international summit. Founder and design director of RAW-NYC Architects, Ani is also the president of the American Institute of Architects-Middle East. Design MENA in Dubai named her one of the top most powerful architects in the Middle East in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Her exemplary creation on the marshes of southern Iraq earned her the AIA-ME honor award in 2013. In 2014, her Aspire Sports complex in Qatar garnered the Leisure Project of the Year Award by Middle East Architect.
Designer of the first green public school in New York City, Ani is one of the leading green architects around these days, focusing her practice on innovative approaches to future living and future cities. Her architecture studio is both interdisciplinary and collaborative, melding innovation with technology and sustainability, while pivoting from interiors to urban design to small-scale to large-scale projects.
