Big 5: Buildings that Breathe with Effisus

Eliminating interior contamination equates to good air quality in buildings and generates healthy spaces. Sector professionals know that the insulation system can make all the difference.

Portuguese company Up-Way Systems exhibited the latest products in its Effisus Ecofacade line at this year’s Big 5 event in Dubai. Its integrated solutions for roofs and facades include waterproofing, sealing and thermal and acoustic insulation. They embody the philosophy that “building design can improve wellbeing.”

The waterproof and breathable qualities of its insulation make it suitable for extreme climates. Up-Way works with two of the largest construction companies in the Middle East, including DAMAC Properties. The company’s strategy and business development director Pedro Carvalho spoke to ArchiExpo e-Magazine.

“The more the building is airtight, the more the building is at risk. Air control becomes crucial in hospitals, malls, highrises and other such structures.”

The company released its new Membrane Effisus Breather+, a breathable membrane with three layers.

“It’s one step ahead in central Europe.”

Effisus continues to bring revolutionary products to the market. Next year, the company will introduce an innovative smart insulation material which reacts to temperature and has sensors that monitor air quality. Stay tuned.
