“It’s not innovation if it isn’t repeatable,” Ar. Gurpreet Shah, principal architect at Creative Group, said during the Design Summit at construction fair The Big5 in November 2015.
Gurpreet Shah explained the importance of creating quality architecture that meets environmental and human needs that can be cloned. The idea of innovation should be to improve and to contribute.
With a special focus on airport design, Gurpreet Shah pointed to a few of their designs. The Chennai airport, entitled “the greenest airport” by Archirecord magazine, exhibits PENETRON concrete crystallization products—nontoxic and often used in projects containing potable water.
His LEED certified Raipur project, completed in 2012, was constructed with a “green ground parking” area. It uses grass track pavers for the parking lot, facilitating groundwater recharge and reducing heat. All thermal insulants and refrigerants are endowed with zero ozone depleting potential (OPD) substances.
Other projects to note: Vadodra, under construction, and the Koba metro and city plan.
