During a guided press tour by Tiles of Spain, we discovered new collections by Spanish ceramics brands with rich heritage and eco-conscious thinking.
February 24 to 28—This year’s Cevisama event in Valencia, Spain, united 38 Spanish ceramic tile companies, along with five additional related firms, all associated with the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association (ASCER). The event showcased the latest innovations in the ceramics industry under the Made in Europe banner, emphasizing the craftsmanship and technological advancements of Spanish ceramics.
As part of Tile of Spain’s exclusive press tour, we had the opportunity to visit notable brands such as Peronda. This company has been a leading manufacturer since 1827 with an international reach, offering high-quality products in over 100 countries. The tour included many reputable brands, two of which caught our attention as eco-conscious tile manufacturers: Onix and Cevica.
Onix, the largest global producer of recycled glass mosaics, has made significant strides in reducing carbon emissions. Last year, the company avoided 1.6 million kg of CO2 through its clean energy practices. Similarly, Cevica, a family-owned company known for its handcrafted ceramic tiles, has earned its CO2 ZERO certification for its efforts to minimize environmental impact while maintaining artisanal quality.
Alongside these industry innovations, Cevisama also introduced the “Hotel Cevisama” installation, a Mediterranean-inspired hotel concept designed by architect Héctor Ruiz-Velázquez.

On Point with Peronda: New Collections at Cevisama 2025
Peronda‘s latest collections highlight the brand’s dedication to precision, innovation, and timeless design. At the core of their new offerings is the Strata Tech technology, which merges two of Peronda’s most advanced techniques—Shaped and Layer Tech. This enables the creation of ceramic pieces that boast intricate reliefs synchronized with high-quality graphics, resulting in natural textures and multilayered visual effects.
The Haven 4D collection comes in a 33×100 cm format and revolutionizes large-format ceramics with its new Strata finish. Available in earthy tones such as bone, sand, and camel, Haven 4D offers a combination of low and high reliefs, inspired by the natural beauty of sandstone. The collection also includes Haven Floor and Haven Wall, providing versatile solutions for both indoor and outdoor spaces with sophisticated finishes and seamless designs.
In a nod to its heritage, Peronda also presented the FS 1827 collection, designed by Francisco Segarra, to honor the year the brand was founded. The tiles come in 22×22 cm like Peronda’s first tiles. These decorative porcelain tiles, available in sage, clay, and mustard tones, evoke Peronda’s origins while offering a modern twist. The FS Bark collection captures the warmth of natural oak in a vintage style, making it ideal for creating cozy yet elegant interiors. FS Bark is available in 20×120 cm format. With FS Nonna, the designer takes viewers on a return to the past of terracotta. The tiles feature two decorative options with green and black olambrillas. (Images: Courtesy of Peronda).

Eco-Friendly Innovations: ONIX and CEVICA Leading the Charge
Two eco-conscious brands, ONIX and CEVICA, exemplify the pathway toward sustainable tile manufacturing. ONIX, the world’s largest producer of glass mosaics, is known for its 100% recycled glass tiles and commitment to using clean energy, with 72% of its electricity coming from renewable sources. In 2024 alone, ONIX reduced carbon emissions by 1.6 million kilograms. Meanwhile, CEVICA, a family-owned business renowned for its artisanal craftsmanship, combines tradition with modern technology to produce high-quality ceramic tiles. With their CO2 ZERO certification, CEVICA demonstrates a strong commitment to reducing and compensating for carbon emissions.
The new ONIX 2025 Catalog is now available, featuring exclusive collections, innovative formats, and modular designs that take personalization to the next level. The new catalog of the brand’s 100% recycled glass mosaics introduces designs such as ICON LIMITLESS, which pushes the boundaries of personalization with modular formats and unique patterns. The PURE collection takes pool elegance to a new level with its refined, serene tones such as Pure Jade and Pure Paleaqua, offering both matte and gloss finishes. Additionally, the TERRA collection captures rustic charm, combining natural textures with modern craftsmanship.
“The 70s are back, baby.” Cevica introduced two new standout collections, Groovy and Funky, embodying the brand’s commitment to bold design and versatility. The Groovy collection, featuring 20×20 cm porcelain tiles with a matte finish and anti-slip properties, offers a perfect blend of style and practicality for floor and wall applications. In contrast, the Funky collection presents smaller 5×30 cm wall tiles in vibrant, glossy finishes, in a wide range of colors like Mintwood and Amber Tangerine. Both collections are designed to bring a dynamic and creative flair to modern interior spaces.

“Hotel Cevisama”: Ceramic Innovation in Contract Design
One of the most talked-about attractions at this year’s event was the “Hotel Cevisama” installation, designed by the renowned architect Héctor Ruiz-Velázquez. Now that the event has wrapped up, the 800-square-meter showcase is being hailed as a visionary fusion of innovative design, Mediterranean aesthetics, and cutting-edge use of ceramic materials. The installation featured stunning spaces, including translucent panels, a swimming pool surrounded by a Mediterranean palm grove, and two luxurious suites inspired by Arab and Japanese influences. The project aimed to highlight the versatility of ceramic tiles and their growing role in contract projects, demonstrating how they can seamlessly merge indoor and outdoor environments while maintaining style and functionality.
The Essence Suite incorporated ceramic tiles as floor and wall coverings, creating a serene and energy-efficient space for physical and mental well-being.
The Sensu Suite offered a more flexible experience, with Japanese-inspired translucent panels allowing for customizable configurations.
Over thirty leading brands in the ceramic and bathroom industries contributed to the project, including Ape Grupo, STN Cerámica, and Ramon Soler, among others. “Hotel Cevisama” has left a lasting impression, symbolizing the union of sustainability, aesthetics, and innovation in ceramics.
