Furniture, lighting and tableware that seem to pop out of a graphic design book makes up the cool collection that Oslo-based designer Kristine Five Melvaer creates. Connecting the discipline of product and graphic design, Melvaer focuses on the potential of ordinary objects in communicating, creating emotional bonds between the owner and the object, translated with a Scandinavian simplicity.
Collaborating with numerous producers from Europe, the Melvaer was the first to launch a successful series of Soft Bowls, Soft Vases and Soft Dishes with Belgian company When Objects Work. She has also become one of the biggest contributors of innovative designs to Magnor Glassverk, a Norway-based glass manufacturer. At Stockholm Furniture Fair in February 2016, she launched an outdoor furniture series called Pop for Vestre.
Outdoor furniture manufacturer Vestre, established in 1947, collaborates with well-known Scandinavian designers.
