Oblio, a Wireless Smartphone Charger that Sanitizes

Oblio, a Wireless Smartphone Charger that Sanitizes

What’s 10 times dirtier than a public restroom? The smartphone is, with over 17,000 different types of bacteria. Gross. Well, here’s an adorable and practical solution. The Oblio not only charges your smartphone, but it kills 99.9% of the germs on the phone in 20 minutes.

French brand Lexon has launched its 2-in-1 wireless charging station with a built-in UV sanitizer system. Within three hours, the smartphone can be fully charged and, in only 20 minutes, Oblio is able to kill 99.9% of the germs found on the screen.

The on-off sanitizing cycle is automatic so the advanced antibacterial UV-C light with ionizer technology doesn’t run longer than it needs to. Oblio uses LED lights and is compatible with Qi-enabled smartphones with a size of up to 8.3 cm wide and 1.05 cm thick, including the non-metallic cases.

Although it can kill up to 99.9% of the germs, it’s important to keep in mind that it has only been tested in the laboratory against common bacteria. The company is not claiming Oblio will fight against pandemic-type viruses.

Its purpose is to destroy proliferating bacterias most commonly identified on smartphone screens, not to remove fingerprints or other marks.

Lexon advises precaution when the sanitizing operation is in function: avoid looking directly at the UV light and touching the product.

Designed by Manuela Simonelli & Andrea Quaglio, Oblio adds a decorative touch to any interior while serving a much-needed purpose.

Currently available for purchase at 79.90€ on the brand’s website.
