The wellness brand SHA opened its first establishment in the Mexican Caribbean, marking the start of its ambitious global expansion plan.

SHA Mexico, a prominent figure in the wellness sector, unveiled its latest venture on January 26, 2024, with the inauguration of its wellness facility in Costa Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The event marks a significant step in the brand’s ongoing global expansion.

Designed by the renowned Mexican firm Sordo Madaleno and interior designer Alejandro Escudero, SHA Mexico’s new establishment seamlessly integrates into its natural surroundings. Nestled between mangroves and the Caribbean Sea, the architectural design reflects a harmonious blend of modern aesthetics and environmental consciousness.

The ten-story structure is effectively segmented into northern, central, and southern volumes. Within the central volume, a comprehensive special program unfolds: the SPA, consolidating its diverse services (Fitness, Beauty & Touch, Treatments, Clinic, and the Water Circuit) across the initial six floors with panoramic views of the mangroves. Positioned at the heart of the establishment, this central hub not only seamlessly links the residences and medical hotel rooms but also serves as a unifying nexus for the entire facility.

The structure employs natural materials, such as Mexican ceramics and indigenous textiles, complemented by renewable energy sources, emphasizing a commitment to sustainable practices. The design aims to provide a serene environment for wellness activities while respecting the local ecosystem.

“We treated the whole surface of the site as a living, self-sufficient organism, which generates its own vitality. This allows the SHA Mexico project to be more than a simple building; it is a whole environment that extends to the outermost elements,” Fabiano Continanza, Architecture Senior Director, stated on his website.
