Antao: A Bathroom Collection in Touch with Nature

Inspired by the quiet poetry of a morning walk, Antao by studio kaschkasch for Villeroy & Boch explores the organic harmony of the dewdrop. A holistic bathroom collection balancing form, material, and atmosphere with sculptural clarity.

The bathroom has always been a place where design meets ritual, a space defined not only by its function but by the atmosphere it creates. With Antao, studio kaschkasch brings a sense of composure to this intimate environment, translating the serenity of a morning walk in the forest into a collection that feels both elemental and deliberate.

For Sebastian Schneider and Florian Kallus, the duo behind studio kaschkasch, the idea began with a single, fleeting moment: the form of a dewdrop resting on a leaf. It became the conceptual centre of the project — a metaphor for natural precision, for softness without symmetry, and for the way light and form can shape emotion.

Asymmetry Creates Natural Equilibrium

Rather than striving for geometric perfection, Antao embraces what the designers call the perfection of the imperfect. This philosophy manifests most clearly in the basins, where a gentle asymmetry creates a sense of natural equilibrium. Each size has its own silhouette, yet all are linked by a shared language of fluid lines and subtle curvature.

This organic geometry is not merely aesthetic; it introduces functional clarity, opening generous surface areas and intuitive tap positions that make daily routines feel effortless. The accompanying fittings extend the same sculptural language, their smooth contours and refined finishes, from Chrome to Matt Black and Brushed Nickel, adding a tactile continuity across the space.

Ceramics and Light Play for Depth and Warmth

Ceramics in soft tones of White, Almond and Morning Green are paired with furniture in muted hues such as Stone Grey, Leaf Green, or Midnight Blue. The materials are tactile and honest: lacquered finishes with a velvety touch, solid wood in Honey Oak or Warm Walnut, and a surface of genuine Botticino marble that introduces a quiet sense of luxury. Every combination, whether monochrome or contrasting, reflects studio kaschkasch’s sensitivity to balance and proportion, inviting to compose spaces that feel coherent yet alive.

Light plays a vital role in this composition. The Antao mirror, with its organically shaped frame and ambient backlight, transforms illumination into atmosphere. Controlled by touch or via smart Zigbee technology, it acts less as a functional object and more as an architectural element as it diffuses a soft, enveloping glow that enhances material depth and warmth.

A Sculptural Form for Rhythm, Balance, and Atmosphere

The collection offers a freestanding bathtub, a sculptural form that translates the dewdrop’s quiet asymmetry into three dimensions. Crafted from Quaryl®, a composite of quartz and acrylic, it combines visual delicacy with remarkable resilience and thermal comfort. Slim edges and a deep interior make it an object of stillness, a place designed for retreat and renewal. Offered in a range of colours from Alpine White to Morning Green, as well as Bicolour options in over 200 RAL shades, it allows for both harmony and personal expression. Antao is not about ornament or spectacle, but about rhythm, balance, and atmosphere. It proposes a way of designing that values stillness over statement, where every curve, every surface, and every material decision contributes to a sense of quiet coherence.
