Marseille Welcomes DocCity’s Future Biopole in 2024
In an exciting development for the South of France’s health-tech landscape, Eurobiomed, the regional competitiveness cluster dedicated to health technology, and DocCity LifeSciences, a prominent real estate operator and service provider for innovation and health spaces, announced a partnership on June 20. The collaboration aims to bring forth DocCity Marseille, a forthcoming biopole focused on medical research and innovation in Marseille, set to open its doors in mid-2024 in the city’s 9th arrondissement on Rue Viton.
The 7500-square-meter campus of innovation and health will be housed in a renovated building, allocating 2500 square meters for medical practice and the remaining 5000 square meters for research and development. The facility will feature two shared laboratories (L1 and L2) and host between 15 to 25 health-related companies, catering to both growing enterprises and subsidiaries of French or foreign biopharmaceutical groups.
The future campus will offer a range of amenities, including a restaurant, gym, conference room, and relaxation area, creating a pleasant and collaborative workspace for professionals. Notably, it will be located in close proximity to major medical facilities such as Sainte-Marguerite Hospital, Inserm, Saint-Martin Sport Clinic, and the IPC Marseille. With its strategic location near several medical giants and its planned connection to the upcoming tramway 3 extension in 2023, the biopole is poised to become a central hub for healthcare innovation.
Upon the center’s opening, DocCity aims to collaborate with various stakeholders, including the Provence Promotion Territorial Attractiveness Agency, Marseille Métropole, hospitals, research centers, and Eurobiomed, which will have a presence on-site. Marseille stands as one of the two flagship innovation hubs developed by DocCity Sciences, with a similar project underway in Suresnes, near Paris.
