Three major Italian brands specializing in interior doors show a blend of design, functionality, and innovation in their products.

Internal doors have undergone a remarkable transformation over the past decades. Once seen purely as functional elements to divide spaces, they have evolved into key design features. The latest trends in doors include craftsmanship, frameless designs, the use of sustainable materials—recycled, renewable, or low-toxicity ones—, bold colors as opposed to traditional, neutral tones, glass inserts, and tech-savvy elements.

Craftsmanship and Frameless Designs

Launched in 2024, Ermetika’s xREVERx ® XL is a 2400 mm tall, flush-to-wall hinged model that allows for all four opening directions in a single product. Its system includes a double lock milling and a matching double milling for magnetic meeting.

The system can be set up in any direction for opening, even if the height isn’t standard.

Once the opening direction (right or left) has been established, customers can use the cover plate on both the frame and door side to conceal the millings that will not be used.

This new product also features no holes on the leaf for the handle and key and three adjustable hinges. The xREVERx ® XL illustrates how frameless doors create a fluid transition between spaces, a popular feature in minimalist homes.

The Creative Use of Top-quality and Sustainable Materials

The Collezione NOI by Garofoli combines the timeless appeal, elegance, and earthiness of solid wood with the transparency of the glass elements. Completed in 2023, the company presented it at the Salone del Mobile di Milano 2024. This collection demonstrates veneering the aluminum profiles with wood.

Geometric motifs distinguish Garofoli’s NOI collection with its glass and solid wood doors, an unusual element with a strong differentiating design value. The NOI collection smartly breaks up living spaces with elegant transparencies and solid elements to create a harmonious balance between privacy and natural light.

Part of Collezione NOI, Velopa 2V2Q is a wooden sliding door composition with Rovere Cipria oak and transparent, Madras® mixed glass. Also in the collection, the hinged-door version of Velopa 2V2Q has a Cipria oak finish and a timeless model black handle, but a single transparent Madras® glass. The Vigopa 2V2G2F, on the other hand, is a sliding model, but with a different pattern in the distribution of its Madras® glass when compared to Velopa 2V2Q.

Sliding Doors for Plasterboard

Ermetika’s sliding door systems optimize interior space while maintaining a sleek design. Launched in 2024, the EvoKart is the classic assembled version of the sliding door with jambs and architraves. Specifically for plasterboard walls, this model offers several advantages.

  • A removable track, made of anodized aluminum
  • Easier maintenance
  • Quick replacement without the need to dismantle the entire system
  • Structural rigidity that ensures stability and durability
  • Fixing references for the plasterboard sheet for simple installation, reducing the margins of error

A pocket door system is useful for distributing space in a house and is an excellent solution for furnishing a small room, removing the clutter of classic hinged doors.

Smart Doors with Motorized Sliding

As homes become more automated and connected, technology-integrated doors are a fast-growing trend. Oiko’s Vela sliding armored door exemplifies this shift and was unveiled at the 2025 edition of BAU which took place in Munich, in January.

It combines aesthetics, performance, and functionality and stands out for the absence of traditional locks and keys.

Four types of devices manage opening and closing: a smartphone, a PIN code, an Oikos Card, or a fingerprint reader.

The latter can be integrated into the door handle or, for a cleaner design, positioned on an adjacent wall or in another room, up to eight meters away from the door.

It also features an automatic lift, magnetic levitation, motorized sliding, a thermal break frame and door, a floor-closing system, and no threshold and track.

The maximum achievable dimensions are 3750×5000 mm, but other dimensions are available on request.
