This is the spirit behind Oikos Venezia, a company that for more than thirty-five years has been a reference point in high-end craftsmanship for the design and production of bespoke entrance architecture.
“Oikos was founded with the idea of giving value to something that until then had been considered purely functional: the entrance door,” explains Mario Biancolin, President of the company. “We wanted this element to become an integral part of the living space, in continuity with the interior while at the same time retaining the ability to stand out and create emotion.”
The production heart of Oikos is the facility known as the Arsenale, a name that is far from accidental.
“We were inspired by the historic Venetian Arsenal, where for centuries the ships that contributed to the greatness of Venice were built. Our Arsenale is divided into specialised areas: the Tesa del Favaro, dedicated to metalworking; the Tesa del Marangon, dedicated to woodworking; and today also the new Tesa delle Galeazze, devoted to large-scale doors and the most complex projects.”
The Tesa delle Galeazze represents a new expression of this production philosophy. Its name recalls the historic Venetian galeazze, large and powerful vessels, and identifies a space designed to take on oversized projects in which industrial precision and craftsmanship must necessarily work together.
Across these spaces, production follows a clear philosophy: a balance between artisanal expertise and industrial organisation, capable of giving life to unique, advanced and highly customised doors.
“We coined the term ‘arsenalità’ to describe this ability: the art of combining expertise, technology and attention to detail within a process that leads to extraordinary results.”
Immersive Spaces
From the Arsenale to the Tesa delle Galeazze, from the Atelier in Gruaro to the international spaces in Dubai and Paris, Oikos tells a story that brings together high-end craftsmanship and industrial capability, Venetian culture and an international vision.
Oikos is not only about production. Within its headquarters, the company has created a special place, the Atelier, which tells and celebrates the company’s story and, more broadly, the value of Made in Italy.
“The Atelier is the artist’s space: part workshop, part museum, part factory and part living room. Here we welcome clients, architects, collectors and travellers, sharing projects with them and inviting them to imagine new interpretations of entrance architecture.”
The space is immersive: every detail and every door on display speaks of the territory, its traditions and the culture of craftsmanship that gives it life.
Over time, this same concept has moved beyond the boundaries of the headquarters and become part of Oikos’s international journey. The first step was Dubai, where in 2022 the first international Oikos Atelier was inaugurated: a space dedicated to architects and interior designers, where Made in Italy, technology and customisation come together to offer new design tools in the field of entrance architecture.
In June 2026, this journey reached a new milestone with the opening of Oikos Atelier Paris, continuing an international expansion project that brings abroad not only the product itself, but also the company’s identity, design culture and manufacturing heritage.
In Paris, the entrance is once again presented as a true architectural space, a point of dialogue between inside and outside, architecture and interior design. In a context where contemporary entrances are increasing in size and complexity, Oikos offers a system built around technology, materials, customisation and design culture, while also bringing with it the concept of arsenalità, the synthesis of artisanal know-how and industrial rigour.
The opening event itself was designed to emphasise this connection with Venice. Venetian master craftsman Saverio Pastor demonstrated the traditional making of the gondola forcola, creating a symbolic bridge between manufacturing heritage and contemporary design.
Among the most significant features of the Atelier in Gruaro is the permanent collection “Tracce di design. L’eredità di una storia tutta italiana” — “Traces of Design. The Legacy of a Truly Italian Story.” Here, icons and masterpieces of Italian design are brought together with the aim of celebrating a successful creative journey while also offering inspiration for new creations.
“We wanted to create a true museum of Made in Italy, a place where the history of design meets contemporary manufacturing. It is an opportunity to remember where we come from and to look towards the future with awareness and passion.”
