It’s now that visitors have returned home after touring the new products exhibited at Salone del Mobile in Milan, and the buzz hasn’t died. We’ve compiled a list of more new releases from the fair to keep the excitement going.

April 18 – 23, 2023—This year’s Salone del Mobile.Milano offered visitors the chance to experience a new layout in the Euroluce exhibition called The City of Lights. In parallel, they had the opportunity to spend time with exhibitors at the main event in order to discuss the design and fabrication of new products. Following the article we published on three brands and the eye-catching materials they used to manufacture their new items, we decided to extend the discovery of new pieces. Here we’ve assembled a few examples of what we spotted at the fair.

2023 Collection by Molteni&C – Made in Italy

The 2023 Molteni&C Collection project, under the creative direction of Vincent Van Duysen, narrates the connection between indoor and outdoor, between intimacy and sharing, and between private and public space. The project is based on the domestic configurations of the ancient Roman Domus: the central element of the domus is the uncovered courtyard, from which the house receives light and water, collected in a pool. The other private and public rooms are arranged around the courtyard. The inner portico, or peristyle, adorned with columns, bounds the garden and is intended for one’s otium in nature.

Vincent Van Duysen designed the Mateo table, available in two versions. It features a cylindrical and cone-shaped pedestal in the center, divided vertically in two at the middle of the base, and its top can come in round or oval. Herzog & de Meuron “sits” behind the new Porta Volta chair, exhibiting an upholstered seat and solid timber frame. Naoto Fukasawa created Tuscany, a chaise longue illustrating the rolling hills of Tuscany.

Beauties by Nichetto Studio for Wittmann, GTV and Llardo

Nichetto Studio has been busy as always, and we spotted a few delights signed by them exhibited at the fair. Wittmann commissioned Nichetto Studio to curate its booth at the fairgrounds in Rho. ‘The Village’ is themed around the studio’s vision of a global village. Figure – a new sofa and lounge chair inspired by Josef Hoffmann 1960s jewels, and Paradise Bird Outdoor are amongst the new pieces presented by the Austrian furniture maker.

The studio designed the new Ample chair for Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, a metal chair with a sinuous shape, generous seat and comfortable backrest. It combines craftsmanship, tradition and innovation while achieving elegance and a sculptural beauty.

The expertise in creating porcelain objects and lighting by Spanish brand Llardò can be seen in the beautiful Soft Blown collection designed by Nichetto Studio. The collection includes a table and pendant lamps whose shapes summon the imaginative forms and layered patterns carved on the products’ surfaces in order to highlight the heritage of Llardò’s experience in working with porcelain.

Bombom Collection by Joana Vasconcelos for Roche Bobois

Portuguese artist and visual artist Joana Vasconcelos has been accumulating recognition since the mid-90s. Having been the first woman and youngest artist to exhibit at the Palace of Versailles, she has a special connection with France. Now, she has collaborated with the French brand Roche Bobois on its latest collection, Bombom, exhibited at the fair in Milan. Each piece in the Bombom collection reflects Joana Vasconcelos’ artistic vision applied to comfort and decoration: bold, gourmand shapes, sometimes deliciously surprising. To adorn each room, the artist drew her colorful inspiration from the pastel-colored facades of Lisbon’s old houses, colors that mingle as the sun sets. The Bombom collection by Joana Vasconcelos is a creative and optimistic collection of sofas, coffee tables, rugs and ceramics for indoor and outdoor living.

Relaunched and New Pieces by Nube Italia, Blending Past and Present

Nube Italia presented its new collection, a balance between past and present, the fruit of extended research into materials. Nube is able to offer furnishings, both relaunched and new, aesthetic harmony and beauty, irrespective of current trends. Pieces capable of going beyond the fashion of the moment to endure over time distinguish themselves within contemporary tastes but also transmit that sense of the past that is everlasting.

An example is the Landò sofa, revived from the Nube archives. A piece from the 1990s whose sleek lines are still very up-to-date, to which some slight changes were made in its proportions to better adapt it to the needs of today’s living rooms. With its new combinations of fabric and suede, Landò once again shines as a modern-day icon, definitively leaving behind its first 33 years.

As for the new catalog, the brand exalts fabric and suede in addition to offering unusual combinations with lacquer finishes and warm tones. The company revived its Glove armchairs designed by Carlo Colombo and presented a series of all-new pieces, including the Lito and Ottavio tables, the Sailor sofa and the Bold collection.
