Design appassionati stopped by Corso Como 8 to feast their eyes on the Alcantara Magic Hotel, an artistic treat and a special feature of Milan Design Week 2016. A giant 2-D and 3-D art installation in Alcantara was designed to reproduce the facade of a real hotel.
Conceived and created by Gentucca Bini, the art piece portrayed a special variant of Alcantara that uses photographic printing in ultra-high resolution to provide a high level of detail. On the run during the month of April in Milan, Alcantara has other exhibitions in the works.
Japanese company Toray and Italian company Eni developed Alcantara, a versatile textile material resistant to water, stains and abrasions–among other features; a material that can be found on the steering wheel of elite car models from brands such as Porsche and BMW.
