The city of Paris is forecast to evolve into a newer, 2.0 version with Europa City, a visionary leisure and culture hub to be opened in 2020 in Gonesse, right in the heart of Greater Roissy.
Groupe Auchan funded the project, and BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) worked on the architectural plans. The French door opened to BIG in 2010 thanks to Arc en Reve, and the firm later completed the Meca in Bordeaux. For Europa City, the idea was to focus on the quality of open landscapes and create a lively urban fabric that will offer a selection of various streetscapes.
The team designed a number of elements, including a water park, exhibition centers, music venues, shops, hotels and more, representing an innovative range of choices dedicated to culture, leisure and public spaces.
